I was downloading the camera this afternoon and I found this video. I thought it was so funny that I had to share.

Let's Go Raptors!

>> Monday, March 08, 2010

On Sunday, we took both kids to the Raptors vs the 76ers game. For Austin, it was his second game (well, technically his third because we were crazy enough to take him in the Snugli when he was just five weeks old) and for Alex it was her first game.

Alex and mommy weren't originally supposed to go. Daddy and Austin had tickets to go with our friend Rob and his daughter Lilo -- but at the last minute, Rob called to say that Lilo had the stomach flu. By the time this all happened, Ryan and Austin had already left for the game --which started at noon.

At 11:20, Ryan called me (where I was down the street at the store with Alex) and asked if we wanted to come instead. We chatted about it and figured what the heck -- even though we thought she was too young, and is a blubbering mess if she misses her nap, we knew we'd have two cars downtown so I could just leave and take her home when needed. It was a better than letting the tickets go to waste.

So, Alex and I raced home, grabbed our stuff and booted it downtown -- getting there just a few minutes into the game. Austin was already decked out in his new Raptors gear and looking like he was a having fun.

Both kids had a great time -- standing for most of the first half, cheering for the Raptors (RaRa as Alex says), clapping, dancing and stuffing their faces with popcorn. Alex would get excited every time she saw the Raptor mascot.

And Austin would get excited when he saw the 'dancing girls'. Here's him before the game:
It was during halftime that things started to fall apart for Alex -- she hadn't slept well the night before and was now asking to go for a nap. Instead of packing her up and taking her home, Ryan snuggled her on his lap. And this is what happened:
She stayed asleep for about 45 minutes; not enough for her, but enough to put her back in a good mood -- at least until we got home. But when she was asleep, she was out cold -- can you imagine being able to sleep at a basketball game! It's not exactly a quiet spot.

It was a lot of fun. Austin hasn't stopped talking about the game all day. It's just too bad the Raptors lost.
